Ancient Iasos

Located on the shores of the Gulf of Güllük in southwestern Muğla, Türkiye, Iasos was an ancient coastal city whose history stretches back thousands of years.

Archaeological discoveries reveal evidence of settlement dating to the 3rd millennium BC. Over the centuries, Iasos grew into an important Aegean port, connecting cultures, trade routes, and ideas across the Mediterranean. The city reached its height during the Classical and Hellenistic periods and remained a significant center throughout the Roman and Byzantine eras.

Known for its maritime heritage, Iasos developed a close relationship with the sea that shaped its economy, culture, and daily life. The remains of temples, theaters, public buildings, and ancient streets still stand today, offering a glimpse into a civilization that flourished along the Aegean coast for centuries.

Among the city's most notable monuments are the Temple of Athena, the theater, the bouleuterion, and the odeon, reflecting the architectural and cultural richness of the ancient world.

Today, Iasos remains a place where history, archaeology, and the beauty of the Aegean come together. Its enduring legacy continues to inspire the spirit behind IASOS and our appreciation for timeless craftsmanship.
